Program Syllabus & Description

The Laboratory OHS BNSP Standardized Certification program prepares laboratory technicians, analysts, and OHS supervisors with professional competencies to manage occupational safety and health in chemical, biological, and industrial testing laboratories.

Regulatory Basis & Competency Standards

Refers to the Laboratory OHS SKKNI standards, general occupational safety regulations, and hazardous chemical (B3) management guidelines in laboratories.

Competency Units & Syllabus

• Laboratory Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Risk analysis of toxic reagents, biological hazards (biohazards), instrument physical hazards, and radiation.
• Chemical & Hazardous Waste Management: Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) standards, incompatible chemical storage, GHS labeling, and laboratory waste neutralization.
• Lab-Specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Selection of lab coats, nitrile/neoprene chemical gloves, safety goggles/face shields, and chemical respirators.
• Operating Laboratory Safety Facilities: Periodic readiness checks for emergency showers, eye wash stations, fume hoods, and Biosafety Cabinets (BSC).
• Chemical Spill Kit Emergency Response: Toxic chemical spill isolation protocols, spill kit deployment, and emergency room evacuation procedures.
