The Healthcare Facility OHS Officer (Hospitals & Clinics) certification program standardized by BNSP is tailored to fulfill healthcare facility accreditation requirements and safeguard medical personnel, patients, visitors, and surrounding environments from hospital-specific hazards.

Regulatory Basis

Refers to Minister of Health Regulation No. 66 of 2016 on Hospital Occupational Health and Safety (K3RS) and national healthcare facility accreditation standards (STARKES / KARS).

Curriculum & Training Topics

• Healthcare Facility Risk Identification: Biological hazards (nosocomial infections, airborne & droplet pathogens), chemical hazards (lab reagents, medical gases, cytotoxic drugs), and radiation safety.
• Biohazardous Medical Waste Management: Segregation, containment, storage in licensed hazardous waste storage facilities, and infectious waste manifest reporting.
• Hospital Fire Emergency Preparedness (Code Red & Patient Evacuation): Fire suppression management in inpatient wards, ICUs, operating theaters (OT), and non-ambulatory patient evacuation routes.
• Healthcare Ergonomics & Occupational Health: Prevention of nurse low back injuries during patient handling, needle-stick injury prevention, and healthcare worker immunization programs.

Hospital OHS Committees, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) personnel, paramedics, clinic physicians-in-charge, hospital sanitation and facility maintenance heads (IPSRS), and healthcare facility management.
